1. Alpine hiking
To the summit of Gartnerkofel - hike to the top of Nassfeld's highest peak, Gartnerkofel, at an altitude of 2,195 meters above sea level, and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views. This hike is of moderate difficulty and requires basic hiking skills. The time required is 4-6 hours in total. The terrain can be steeper and rockier in some places.
Nassfeld High Route - a mountain trail for more experienced hikers, mostly along mountain ridges and rocky terrain. Known for its difficulty, it requires good physical preparation and mountain hiking experience. The total distance is approximately 10-15 km, taking several hours to a full day.
To the summit of Spitzegel - Spitzegel is the highest peak between the Weissensee and Pressegger See lakes. A frequently visited point, all you need is to prepare refreshments, spare clothing, put on hiking boots, and you can start walking directly from the Spitzegel house. The ascent covers 1,600 vertical meters, requiring good physical fitness and around 7 hours for the return to the starting point.
Trogkofel Trail - a trail to the summit of Trogkofel mainly along mountain ridges and rocky terrain. The length of the route is about 15 km, covered in several hours. The trail is challenging and suitable for experienced mountain hikers.
Kärntner Grenzweg - the trail follows the border between Austria and Italy, allowing you to explore the beautiful alpine landscape, including high peaks, forests, lakes, and mountain villages. It requires good physical fitness and experience with high-altitude hiking. The total length of Kärntner Grenzweg can be several tens of kilometers and is divided into several stages. You can choose which parts of the route you want to complete.
Hochspitz - this peak is a popular destination for climbers and hikers seeking a challenge and beautiful views of the alpine landscape. The trail is demanding, requiring rock climbing and a series of ascents and descents. Only for experienced mountain hikers.

2. Undemanding tourism not only for families with children
- Aqua Trail - an adventure trail designed for families with young children, suitable for strollers. The trail combines hiking with swimming. Let your kids explore how water is used in the water park. Along the route, you will also discover several children's playgrounds and facilities with refreshments.
- Circuit path around Lake Pressegger See - an excellent choice for those seeking a peaceful experience in beautiful nature. The trail is approximately 12 km long and can be approached as a leisurely walk. You can also enhance your trip with a swim in the lake or have fun on a paddleboard. In any case, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the Alps and the surrounding nature.
- Walk around Lake Weissensee - discover legends about the lake on this charming fairytale path along Lake Weissensee and enjoy a romantic boat ride back to the starting point of your hike. Time spent at Lake Weissensee can be enriched with swimming, rowing, and other water sports. Refreshments are available at one of the many restaurants and cafes.
- Garnitzenklamm Gorge - a captivating and relatively easy walk through a deep gorge created by the Gailitz River. The hiking trail follows wooden walkways and bridges over the river, allowing you to explore the beauty of the gorge and its waterfalls. The trip is suitable for families and takes at least an hour but could extend to half a day, depending on how much you want to marvel at the surroundings.
- Egger Alm - a beautiful place with stunning views where you can taste specialties from local farmers. Egger Alm is located above Garnitzenklamm, and you can combine these two places into a beautiful and undemanding trip.
- Mühlenweg Trail - a walk known for its tranquil atmosphere and historical character as it guides you past old water mills, offering a glimpse into traditional rural life in the region. It's an ideal excursion for families and those who want to enjoy a peaceful stroll in beautiful nature. The trail is well-marked and easily accessible, approximately 7 km long, but you can shorten or extend it according to your preferences.
3. Castle Moderndorf
The castle, with a history dating back to the 16th century, is a beautiful architectural monument with elements of Baroque and Renaissance styles. The castle includes a regional museum with over 5000 exhibits. You will find exhibitions dedicated to traditional crafts, the history of the town, and cultural events.
4. Cyklistika
In the Nassfeld-Pressegger See area, a total of 950 kilometers of mountain bike trails are ready, spread across 46 marked mountain biking routes, along with an additional 100 kilometers of cycling paths in Austria and Italy. Do you prefer a sporting performance, a gastronomic experience, or breathtaking views? Or combine them all in one trip. You can simplify your ascent by using some of the cable cars that operate even in the summer season.

Another popular spot for cyclists is the pump track in Nassfeld. It's a fun type of track built with a series of banked turns and rollers, allowing riders to gain speed solely through body movement. It's suitable for various types of bikes, including mountain bikes, BMX, and skateboards.
Adrenaline junkies can also visit the bike park in Nassfeld, offering various downhill trails and attractions for cyclists of all skill levels.

Another option to enjoy a day in the cycling saddle and explore the Pressegger See area is a guided ride on the Alpe-Adria trail. 5. Water recreation
Lake Pressegger See - offers countless opportunities for water activities for both children and adults. Around the lake, you'll find many beaches with easy access to the water. Some of them offer excellent facilities for small children, including various swings, climbing frames, and even a children's splash area. You can also try some water sports such as windsurfing, paddleboarding, or kayaking, all with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. At Lake Pressegger See, you'll also find Carinthia's first adventure park with plenty of adrenaline attractions for young and "young at heart" visitors.
Lake Weissensee - similar to Pressegger See, Weissensee, the "Alpine Caribbean," offers plenty of water activities for the whole family. From the surrounding beaches, you can easily access the crystal-clear water for swimming, diving, windsurfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and many other activities. You can also take a romantic boat trip on the lake and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Natural swimming pool Naturschwimmbad Radnig - a perfect place for families with children. The swimming pool is set in a beautiful environment surrounded by forests and meadows, equipped with showers, toilets, changing rooms, and refreshments. In addition to swimming and sunbathing, you can play volleyball or rent a kayak for a peaceful ride on the calm surface.
Activities on the River Gail - on the Gail River, you can take advantage of kayaking and rafting opportunities. These activities are suitable for older children with parents, friends, or couples. Raise your adrenaline level and experience the beauty of the surrounding nature from the water.
Refreshing in mountain lakes - crystal clear, emerald green, or turquoise blue and very cold - that's what the mountain lakes in the Nassfeld area offer. You can shorten the journey to the lakes by using cable cars or take a hike from the valley. Don't miss Lago di Pramollo on the border between Austria and Italy.If you want to make a big trip, here are a few tips for mountain lakes worth visiting. These include Zollner See, Wolayer See, the emerald green lakes Grunsee and Bodensee, the vibrant-colored Laghi di Fusine, or the lake with an old fortress, Lago del Predil.
6. Public swimming pools
- Outdoor pool Kirchbach - approximately 15 minutes by car from Spitzegel House, you will find an outdoor pool where you can spend a pleasant day with the whole family. For adults, there is a swimming pool, and children can have fun in a smaller children's pool. In addition to water activities, you can play beach volleyball, soccer, or table tennis, and children can enjoy the playground. You can spread blankets and towels on the grass or loungers.
- Aquarena Kotschach-Mauthen - approximately 30 minutes by car from Spitzegel House, you can visit a public swimming pool with an outdoor and indoor thermal water pool. Children will certainly appreciate the children's pool, slides, and wild water, while adults can enjoy the wellness area with a sauna world, steam baths, and relaxation rooms. If you prefer more active relaxation, you can use the fitness center or tennis courts.
7. Golf Nassfeld
Why not go golfing right where you are? The golf course is surrounded by beautiful scenery, allowing you to enjoy and soak in the breathtaking alpine atmosphere of Nassfeld between swings.
